UNLEASH YOUR CREATIVE VISION
A Three-Day Masterclass in Concept Development & Composite Artistry
melbourne 2026
DATES: 13th - 15th November 2026
WHERE: Frog Dog Studios - 5A Eames Avenue, Brooklyn Victoria Australia 3012
Great composites don't begin in Photoshop.
They begin with an idea.
In this immersive three-day workshop, you'll learn how to slow down, think more intentionally, and develop artwork with purpose long before you ever pick up a camera or open Photoshop.
Too often photographers rush to create an image without spending enough time exploring the story they want to tell. The result may be technically impressive, but it lacks the emotional connection that makes people stop and look. This workshop is designed to change that.
We'll spend our first day stepping away from the computer and diving deep into the creative process. I'll take you behind the scenes of how my award-winning images evolve, from the very first spark of an idea through to months of refining concepts, researching references, sketching, planning and problem solving before a single frame is captured. We'll study how painters, illustrators, filmmakers and photographers use composition, colour, symbolism and design principles to communicate powerful stories, and explore practical techniques that will help you strengthen your own creative voice.
Once we've built the foundation, we'll shift our focus to bringing those ideas to life.
Across the following two days, you'll learn my complete composite workflow using Adobe Photoshop. Rather than simply recreating one of my images, you'll be supplied with an extensive library of professionally photographed animals, props and background elements that I've created specifically for this workshop. You'll choose the pieces that inspire you and build an artwork that's entirely your own while following my editing demonstrations step-by-step.
Throughout the workshop we'll cover planning and photographing for composites, creating believable lighting, advanced masking techniques, colour grading, atmospheric effects, visual storytelling, and the finishing touches that transform a technically good composite into a piece of art.
Because everyone works from the same library of assets while making their own creative decisions, no two final images will be the same. Whether you're relatively new to compositing or already comfortable in Photoshop, you'll leave with new creative processes, stronger editing skills and a finished artwork that reflects your own imagination.
If you've ever wanted to move beyond simply taking beautiful photographs and start creating meaningful photographic art, this workshop was designed for you.
