Winged Country is a visual homage to the quiet poetry of Australian birdlife and the ancient land they inhabit. Celebrating the beauty and mystery through a surrealist lens, each image is a quiet portrait, capturing native birds in imagined environments that blur the line between real and dreamt. These creatures are iconic, ancient, and deeply woven into the Australian landscape, become both subjects and storytellers. I am inspired by the hush of early light, the textures of the bush, and the silent watchfulness of birds in wild places. Through this work, I hope to honour the sacred relationship between creature and country with each bird holding space, not as a visitor, not simply resting upon it, but rising from within its story.
